THE VINEYARDS

Our lands have always been dedicated to a viticulture of excellence. Their composition is rich and complex, with an optimal exposure, from southeast to southwest, which illuminates them from sunrise.

Our vines of Sangiovese and Merlot have an average age of twenty years, they are planted with a density of 6,000 plants per hectare and are grown with the low spurred cordon technique.

THE VINEYARDS ARE POSITIONED ON A HILLY RIDGE FACING NORTH TO SOUTH, BELONGING TO AN OFFSHOOT OF MOUNT LUCO WITH AN ALTITUDE BETWEEN 430 AND 600 METERS ABOVE SEA LEVEL.

THE SOIL

The soil is composed primarily of “Macigno Toscano” or Tuscan boulders which
originate from a mixture of sandstone with a significant percentage of sandy
stratification and completed by equal percentages of lime and clay.

The climatic position of this type of high and steep hill is also favored by the presence of the forest that surrounds the estate. The vineyards benefit from the air flow and excellent natural drainage. During the summer the heat is never excessive.

Depending on the year, the harvest takes place from early September to mid-October, and is done exclusively by hand.

VINEYARD PARCELS

South-facing on the highest ridge of the estate’s vineyards, up to an altitude of 600 meters above sea level; deep and mostly sandy soil, sheltered from cold winds.

Flat with an elevation of 550 meters above sea level; the rocky and deep earth provides a particular balance for the right fertility of the soil.

A lot nestled in the woods. The soil is a darker color with influences of fertility from the forest.

Vineyard with maximum exposure, extremely sunny, the largest among those planted with Sangiovese, and the most panoramic. The soil transitions from deep and fertile on the sides to the pure rocky sandstone in the center.

On the steep ridge facing south-east, the terrain is rocky sandstone higher up and becomes more sandy at the bottom. The vineyard is sheltered from the north wind and influenced by the sirocco wind.

Vineyard “cavalcapoggio” or contour plowed, the only remaining vineyard that had this orientation, sunny, on the plateau of the Corticelle. Soil with the presence of rock and stones but a balanced mixture.

On an extreme incline, it is heroic for its direction. Soil with a significant presence of rock and stones but balanced in mixture. Southern exposure shelters it from cold winds.

THE PHILOSOPHY

Our agronomic management is focused on respect for the native biodiversity, and soil management practices are aimed at increasing the humus content of the soil through techniques that invigorate the soil while respecting the stratification and increasing the variability and complexity of herbaceous plants to give fundamental importance to the ecosystem living both the above and below the surface of the soil.

Pruning and harvesting are strictly done by hand by highly specialized staff.

VINIFICATION

The wine-making is carried out respecting the origin of the grapes of the vineyards, constant monitoring of the quality and working method with a focus on manual operations in order to enhance the unique characteristics of the terroir of San Vincenti.

The key to all of the work in the cellar is the high level of professionalism for the highest quality of wines with regard to the aromatic expressions coming from the soil, grapes, fermentation and aging which leads to one single denominator: elegance.
